Americans gain 16 pounds
The last time I saw the statistics about Americans' annual textile waste, each person was chucking 68 pounds (31 kg) of t-shirts, bedspreads and carpets into the landfill. A recent post by Slowfashioned now claims that we're now throwing away 83.9 lbs (38 kg) of textiles each year, a 5.2% of the total waste stream, the equivalent of 191 t-shirts.
191 t-shirts for each of us, every year?
Those Forever 21, Zara and Uniqlo masterpieces sure don't last too long, do they?
