Since I spend so much of my time knitting and designing, I've decided to try my hand at selling my knitting patterns. My first pattern for sale is Bougainvillea Hat, a lightweight colorful knitted hat for spring and early summer.
Requires one skein of Lion Cotton and a few yards of a contrasting color in Brown Sheep Cotton Wool. Intermediate knitting skills required.
This comfy warm weather hat, made in a lightweight, durable cotton, is inspired by the vibrant color of the bougainvillea vines that are found around every cobblestoned corner in Mexico. The top of the hat is formed by knitting a circle one short row wegde at a time, then picking up and knitting from the top down. It’s one of my favorite techniques and leaves me impressed with the magic of geometry!
The Lion Cotton is readily available online and at most craft stores for a very reasonable price). The double thickness of Brown Sheep Cotton wool is meant to give the appearance of a ribbon around the hat. You could easily substitute a contrasting color of the Lion Cotton if you wanted a stripe with a less embossed effect.
Pattern includes schematic, photos, and description of techniques used.
The pattern is available for sale on Ravelry for $4.00. More details and patterns to come!
